Haad Yao Beach on Koh Phangan's west coast has both — bungalows right on the sand, and places set back in the tropical jungle just a couple of minutes' walk away. HAAD YAO WILD is the second kind. Here's why that's not a downgrade.
150 metres back, still steps from the beach
We're set in the jungle, 150 metres from Haad Yao Beach — close enough that you're on the sand in a couple of minutes, far enough that you're surrounded by forest instead of a beachfront strip of restaurants and bars.
Why some guests prefer it
Being back from the beach road means less noise, more shade, and a cooler feel during the hottest part of the day — the tree cover makes a real difference. It also tends to be a bit quieter at night than staying directly on the beachfront strip.
If you want to fall asleep to jungle sounds instead of beach bar music, and still walk to the water whenever you want, this is the setup.
When beachfront makes more sense
If waking up and stepping straight onto the sand matters more to you than the jungle setting, our sister hotel Secret Place — also on Haad Yao Beach — has bungalows that open directly onto the beach.
